building surveying - party wall matters
The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 relates to adjacent buildings and land and gives a building owner rights to carry out works that may affect a ‘party wall’ between two buildings or neighbouring properties. The Act requires that a building owner serves notices on adjoining owners and, in most cases, that one or two surveyors are appointed to ensure that the act is properly applied to protect the interests of both parties.
We can provide advice as to whether the Act applies to works that are being considered, serve the necessary notices if required and then act as Party Wall surveyors for both Building and Adjoining Owners and generally provide advice to guide clients through the complexities of the Act.
